Inspired by the brand’s Hollywood history, Ferragamo’s runway show for the spring/summer 2023 collection took place in the Former Archiepiscopal Seminary of Milan, built in the seventeenth century by Charles Borromeo where the ancient Monastery of St. John once stood.

"I wanted to pay homage to Salvatore's Hollywood beginnings, by bringing the new Hollywood culture to the center stage, with its sensuality and simplicity, its sunsets and sunrises,” the designer explains. On the catwalk, sheer sweaters, liquid silks, and layers of organza, supported by suede sandals with Renaissance aesthetics.

Some of the sweaters are loose woven and see-through, others are so thin as to appear translucent. The evening wear is a triumph of crystals remindful of the red shoes Ferragamo made in 1959 for Marilyn Monroe.

The hallmarks of Hollywood opulence and glamor return to the fore. For men, the classic tailoring of the 80s has been transformed into a modern and vibrant wardrobe with impeccable and sophisticated proportions punctuated by fabrics traditionally dedicated to women. As for accessories, Salvatore has reinterpreted with elegance and new proportions the Wanda Bag creation he had made to honor his wife and introduced back in 1988, while the prismatic line of the shoulder bag conveys a feeling of modern minimalism. The color palette ranges from optical white to intense indigo, and from creamy yellow to light blue. A new Pantone red replaces the brand's iconic hue.
